Building A Clubhouse on A Budget--Part two

Posted by earlybird on August 25, 2015 at 10:35 PM Comments comments (0)

Good News--the clubhouse is no longer just an idea. Here's how it happened over the summer, as probably one of our most successful fun activties.

JUNE

-Ballerina helped tear down a bridge, and was given the lumber

JULY

-Earlybird and Ballerina finalized the location.

-A few days later, building began

The first boards, which were nailed to trees, were originally planned to support a roof.  Since there were three trees, Horselover added a post  the ...

Summer Plans

Posted by earlybird on June 25, 2015 at 8:00 PM Comments comments (0)

Finally! All five FAC members are out of school, the weather is nice, and fun activties are piling up. But for the most part, we have an empty summer calander. We have a possible 4th of July celebration, the county fair, and family camp on our schedules, but there are many long, hot, unscheduled weeks between these events that need filling.8)

What we plan on doing this summer:

-The fair, with pig wrestling a possiblility

-Family camp will work out this year, it looks like. (...

Late winter/Early spring updates

Posted by earlybird on May 25, 2015 at 7:55 PM Comments comments (0)

The snow melted early this year--around the end of January, after we got a huge amount of snow very early in the month, it began to melt off. The snow was completly gone by March, which is a month earlier than usual. This cut off our sled season really early, (it's a terrible idea to sled in blotchy, patchy snow!) and so there wasn't much to do outside. During February and March, we met several times but had no entire-club meetings or activites.

Late March brought Spring Break, and sinc...

Building a Clubhouse on a budget, Part one

Posted by earlybird on March 24, 2015 at 7:00 PM Comments comments (0)

The club has been talking about having a clubhouse for months, but none of it seemed to be moving forward. There were plenty of things to do outdoors...

And then winter came. You can't sled every day, and it's difficult to when it's below zero. But indoor activites  are not the point of the club, and with limited transportation and weather that was far from favorable, we decided it would be nice to have a home base where we can hang out without being freezing cold, while not tracki...

Early Winter updates

Hey, it's earlybird here!

The Fun Activties club was able to get together to go sledding for the past two weekends. We had a lot of fun and hot chocolate. Plans for later? Skiing isn't going to be a possibility this winter, but we already have plenty of great sledding snow, and plan to keep sledding until the melt in March or April. Going to church together? Absolutely. We plan to do this as often as allowed.

We also plan to have a small Christmas get-together for a gift exc...

Snow!!!!

Posted by ballerina on November 9, 2014 at 9:45 PM Comments comments (0)

Finally!! It started snowing tonight at about 7:30, and in half an hour we already have half an inch! Kind of bitter sweet, the first real snow signaling the end of fall and the start of winter. Time to start thinking about ski trips and sledding and best of all, Christmas! Well, I guess Thanks giving comes first, but.... well, you know. The snow made me start getting excited about Christmas. Horse boss and sports for life came my house yesterday, and today, only horse boss did. We watched M1...

Mid-Fall updates

Posted by earlybird on November 8, 2014 at 7:00 PM Comments comments (0)

Thank you, Horsefanatic, for that blog post on horses. The club is into horses and various other livestock. Two of the members own horses, while each of the remaining four have some sort of an animal.

Early fall has kept us all busy, but our late fall clander is looking pretty open. The first snowy weekend we hope, is coming soon so we can get our sleds out. Until then, hunting season is in its peak, and some of us are looking forward to that. As the weather gets colder but there ...

Horses

My dad is planning to buy a horse in spring. I will be willing to train you how to ride and maybe go onto a easy trail that I know of. I am not sure if I can for sure or not because it will be my dads horse but I am sure he will be fine if it is a mellow horse. I am looking forward to spring!

Sledding season is coming soon!

Posted by earlybird on September 17, 2014 at 5:30 PM Comments comments (0)

The cold is starting to set in, and we are getting ready for sled season. Here's the sleds that belong to each club member.

*Two zipfys (Sir Benjamin the first)

*About three reasonably functional toboggans, belonging to various members

*Two kneeboards (Belonging to Horsefanatic and toadee)

*One round toboggan-type sled (Earlybird)

*Two inner tubes (Earlybird and ballerina)

*Whatever sleds mickayla has.

However, not all of this works in all snow. We do...

How our fun activities are planned

Posted by earlybird on September 1, 2014 at 1:15 PM Comments comments (0)

Note that this is not done formally, this is done very informally and it just typically works out this way. We don't say "Okay, onto step four" this is just the way we do it without thinking.

Step I--proposal.

Any member of the club can propose an activity--these range from sessions of hide-and-seek in the woods to a weekend vacation at Family camp or a ski day.

Step II--Acceptance

Typically, at least three club members must be able to participate for it to...

Mid-Summer updates

Posted by earlybird on July 14, 2014 at 9:45 AM Comments comments (2)

Okay, it is July 14, almost exactly halfway through Summer.  We were unfortanetly unable to get together for the fourth, but we all enjoyed it, whether we were on vacation, or at home that day. Only two out of six members will make it to family camp this year, but the fair is still in our plans. We have yet to take a hike or go on a picnic, but we have gone swimming--in a stock tank in the back yard--and plan to swim more. Possible hiking locations are State and National parks as well as ...

Spring Updates

First, We got a new member! she is the lawmaker. However, she is away for the summer, but will probably will be back in time for the County fair this August! The parking lot sale was a success! We didn't make money though; we broke even. We wil do it again next year, with more planning before hand. We sold homemade dog treats (Much loved by very dog who tasted them!) and homemade horse treats (Loved by most of the horses who tried them). Shh! We also sampled both kinds of treats! Our verdict?...

Sled season is over! Springtime is here!

Posted by earlybird on April 30, 2014 at 2:30 AM Comments comments (0)

The Fun Activites Club finished off the winter with a trip to the ski hill! Everyone had a great time and wants to go again next winter!

It's now well into springtime, and the Fun Activities Club has been done with sledding. The only snow left would take a long hike up in the wilderness to get to...so we're starting our spring activities!

We are doing some bike riding and hiking, and will hopefully get to do more soon.

Other Spring Plans: Participating in a...
